1.1 The Occupy Central movement is ready to take place at any time in the imminent future.
1.2 We are not affiliated with any political parties, but we care for the future of Hong Kong. We also support the steady development of democracy in Hong Kong. For our future, we dare to express our view and respect others’ to strive for universal suffrage. We oppose against the Occupy Central movement because we should treasure the spirit of law. We work in Central and therefore can be regarded as the stakeholders of Central. We are worried that once the Occupy Central movement takes place, before the Hong Kong economy is significantly jeopardized, our industries will be the first to bear the brunt and will be directly and seriously imperiled.
1.3 As such, we appeal to the public not to occupy Central. We must protect Central!
2.1 We are a group of diligent people working in Central:
2.2 In the event that the Occupy Central movement takes place, our six priority industries will be the first to bear the brunt.
3.1 We believe most Hong Kong people cherish peace and democracy. Hong Kong people are as well smart and competent. Our success is due to our industrious spirit below the Lion Rock. Hong Kong has undergone the eras of the prosperous textile and plastic flower industries, through the eras of booming toys and electronics industries to the era of world class financial and real estate markets. In the ever-changing world, we have learned to transform. Despite the fact that the political reform proposal may not satisfy those who would like to reach for universal suffrage in one go, by reason of our can-do spirit, through the rule of law and peace, under the objective circumstances, we can certainly do more and better for Hong Kong. It is our role to maintain Hong Kong’s stability and prosperity and create an advancing society.
3.2 However, in view of the current situation, most people in society are not willing to see the Occupy Central movement happen. We should be practical and realistic. Likewise, we should understand that we may not be able to achieve everything in one go. Instead, we should take things one step in a time. More importantly, Occupy Central is not a viable option to strive for universal suffrage.
4.1 In the Anti-Occupy Central signature campaign held in mid-August, over 1.3 million people express their strong will against the Occupy Central movement. This is the majority view that we, as a democratic society, should not ignore. The silent majority wish to be back on the right track to strive for democratic reform. Hence, we should not paralyze the Central. Alternatively, we can strive for our goal in a more positive and constructive way. For example, we may set up a website or facebook to appeal to the people in Hong Kong to send our messages to the Central Government on the Mainland that we are desirous of having the universal suffrage we want. Working for Hong Kong and speaking out for Hong Kong can demonstrate our unity. We love Hong Kong and we love China. We set up a good example for our future generations, we shall endeavor to prevent violent events from happening. Whoever involved in those events will get hurt one way or the other which may be something one will regret for the rest of his life.
4.2 We hope that we can reach a social consensus to advert Occupy Central and bring benefit to the Hong Kong society. Preliminarily, we intend to hold a press conference at 3 p.m. on 23rd September 2014, Monday, and will explain to the public our philosophy behind Protect Central campaign.
